Feng Shui is a Chinese science about buildings & burial sites, their surroundings and the affect on lives, careers and businesses.
In Chinese the words "Feng Shui" means wind and water (mountains and waterways). In China these two elements are the components that summarize landscape or our environment. It was used to find suitable surroundings (buildings & homes) to improve the quality of life. If you think about it they are the two most powerful elements in nature that we as human beings or any living thing for that matter needs to sustain life.
Feng Shui is becoming more and more popular in the West (Now being introduced as Western Feng Shui) as you may be aware of simply by browsing the internet, visiting your local book stores and even watching some of your favorite sitcoms. Even though it was first introduced during the California Gold Rush in the 1800's by the Chinese it was never accepted in the US. Although some say that an American architect, Frank Lloyd Wright, understood Chinese geomancy and applied these principles (Wind and Water) to his building designs.
Well here we are in the year 2008 and unfortunately the philosophy of Feng Shui is still unknown by many. However, there are well-known people and corporations out there who apply Feng Shui principles to their everyday life. There is a quote I use on my consultation page from Donald Trump, who may not believe in Feng Shui but claims it makes him successful and we know he is just that.
For those of us who have successfully incorporated this great concept into our lives know that it is worth sharing with friends, family and acquaintances. Still when speaking about it we may get some funny looks. Consider dropping the words Feng Shui and simply explain the concept. Once everyone realizes its value is in offering guidelines for learning to live in harmony with our surroundings, for harmonizing yourself and family to your home and workspace they may just sit up and listen to you. No one said helping to bring harmony to the world would be easy.
Living together with nature benefits us as well as our environment. It should really be second nature to incorporate natural elements in our space. We need to understand how to live in harmony with our surroundings because it does have an affect on us emotionally and physically. We are our environment. Isn't it safe to say if we surround ourselves with happy and healthy people, beautiful & positive images, our life becomes positive, we become healthier and ultimately can reach our highest of goals. On the other hand, if we surround ourselves with negative people, darkness, images of destruction and violence we corrupt ourselves in the process.
So when using the principles of Feng Shui always be sure they are being safely applied (they are quite powerful) to your own personal space and or work environment to enjoy good health, positive energy, and promote prosperity into your life.
